Garmin International, Inc. today announced two new additions with built-in GPS to its marine communication product lineup – the a AIS™ 800 transceiver with Class B/SO, and the VHF 315 marine radio with Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC). Both systems compliment the latest Garmin GPSMAP® chartplotters and multi-function displays (MFDs), and are NMEA 2000 certified to make installation and integration into a Garmin system quick and easy.

The new AIS 800 transceiver has 5 watts of transmit power with Class B/SO and provides faster position reporting than ever before.1 It receives AIS target data while transmitting a vessel’s information to other AIS receivers in the area. The AIS 800 includes built-in GPS (with connector for optional external antenna) and integrates seamlessly into the Garmin onboard system.  It has a cost-saving internal VHF antenna splitter that allows VHF and AIS to share a single antenna. It features NMEA 2000 connectivity for easy integration with compatible chartplotters and multifunction displays. And it’s all packed into an easy-to-install black box unit with a small footprint.

The 25-watt VHF 315 marine radio with Class D DSC is a reliable modular communication solution. It’s easy to use, and with NMEA 2000 connectivity, it integrates seamlessly into the Garmin onboard system. The VHF 315 features optional GPS (external GPS antenna required), and also includes the GHS™ 11 handset and new active speaker to use as an intercom between up to three stations. It’s equipped with NMEA 2000 connectivity for easy integration with compatible chartplotters, multifunction displays and convenient software updates. Simplified handset connectors and an uncomplicated, easy-to-use interface allow users to quickly set up and communicate.

Expected to be available in Q2 2018, the AIS 800 has a suggested retail price of $999.99, and the VHF 315 will be available for a suggested retail price of $699.99. For more information, visit www.garmin.com/marine.
